One night I was sitting at the dinner table when I had an idea. I dropped my fork, grabbed a piece of paper and wrote the song, GoD and DoG. I sang it a few times in concert and people just erupted. So I made the song the subject of my first animation. I decided to do a very simple line drawing since the music was simply produced. The drawings are all done on computer in Photoshop and each frame was altered slightly by hand. Then the files were imported into Ulead video software and edited into what is now the video. It is very simple animation and the project took 2.5 days (including one overnighter... I couldn't stop). I then uploaded it onto You Tube and posted it on my blog, facebook, and sites. In 10 days, it had over 30,000 views.
The inspiration for the song and video came from my dog, Caspian. I had to leave one day and I put him into his big corral (he's a big dog) and he gave me a look... it said, "I would rather be with you all day." It struck me that dogs who live in packs seldom leave each other. My horses never leave each other either.. If you take one horse away from it's group of friends, they will all cry and cry. Many animals stay together always. People aren't like that. We have 9 to 5s and school and all sorts of activities that take us away from each other.
Then I thought that there are some ways in which my dog reflects God - afterall, my dog was designed by God and God is reflected in everything he made. God would love to be in constant communication with me. He would love to be a part of everything I do. The story of the prodigal tells of a son who leaves and squanders everything his dad gave to him. But when he comes back in failure and exhaustion, the father is so thrilled to have him back that he throws a huge party for him. The Bible also says that everytime somebody decides to get to know God, there is a big party in heaven. If I leave for 5 minutes and then come back, my dog throws himself into the air with excitement. That is an amazing response. My dog loves me with his full capacity to love, and I can't match his devotion. God loves me beyond what I can understand too. I am loved from both sides... from up and down.. and I can't match it from either side.
There is so much life, beauty, and love imbedded into all aspects of this universe by the God who made it. The Bible says that even the rocks, trees and stars shout, clap, and declare the presence of a wonderful God.
