And (remember) when 'Îsa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Taurat [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.
But when he (Ahmad i.e. Muhammad SalAllahu alaihi wasallam) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic."
{Holy Qur'an Surat: 61 As-Saff Verse# 06}

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu anhu):

Allah's Messenger (SalAllahu alaihi wasallam) said, "Allah (SubhanuWaTa'ala) says: 'I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am Able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if he remembers me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than them; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit near to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running."

Sahih Al-Bukhari 9:502

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Three are the signs of a hypocrite: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is trusted, he betrays his trust."[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Another narration adds the words: "Even if he observes Saum (fasts), performs Salat (prayer) and claims to be a Muslim."

Keeping the Right Friends

'Who we keep company with is reflective of who we are'

For as far back as I can remember, my parents would always admonish me and my siblings to keep good company. My Dad specially had a favorite saying, "Show me your friends and I'll tell you who you are."

Needless to say, I was always very conscious, and careful about choosing the right people to surround myself with. In Islam it is doubly true and essential to surround yourself with righteous companions, because they will help to keep your feet planted on the straight path, while doing otherwise may lead you astray.

It was Ahmad ibn Harb, rahimahullaah, who said, "There is nothing more beneficial to a Muslim's heart than to mix with the righteous and to watch their actions, while nothing is more harmful to the heart of the Muslim than mixing with sinners, and watching their actions." No matter who you are, or how strong or independent you may feel, no man, or woman, is an island, and you can't make it through this life alone. This is why Islam so stresses the Jama'ah, or the congregation. The sayings that there is strength in numbers and that it is the lone sheep that gets devoured by the wolf are true.

Therefore we need to adopt correct manners, in that we try ardently never to do an action or to befriend anyone without knowing whether the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala is in it or not, and never loving and hating for worldly reasons. For the Prophet of Allah Ta'ala, sallallahu alayhi wassalaam said, "Whoever loves for Allah, and hates for Allah, gives for Allah and withholds for Allah, has completed his faith." (Abu Dawud) So who should be our companions?

First of all they should be good Muslims, who believe in Allah and His Messenger. For Allah Ta'ala says in the Qur'an, "And who so obeys Allah and the Messenger [Muhammad, sallallahu alayhe wassalaam], then they will be in the company of those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, of the Prophets, the Siddiqun (those followers of the prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them), the Martyrs, and the Righteous. And how excellent these companions are." [4:69]

Secondly, being around them should make you want to increase in good deeds. Allah Ta'ala says, "And We have sent down to you [O Muhammad, sallallahu alayhe wasallam], the Book [this Qur'an] in truth, confirming the Scriptures that came before it and Mohayminan over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but that may test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds. The return of you is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ." [5:48]. By aligning ourselves with people who do good deeds, we are then prompted to compete with them in this regard, and thus improving the character and the religion of everyone involved.

Lastly, but by no means the least, our companions should help us to remember Allah Ta'ala. For Allah Ta'ala says, "O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does this, then they are the losers." [63:9] .In this time of hustle and bustle, it is very easy for us to get caught up in the pursuit of worldly gains. This is why it is increasingly important to surround ourselves with people, who will encourage us to think of Allah Ta'ala, in every instance of our lives.

The superiority of the remembrance of Allah was explained by the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhe wasallam, who said, "The example of the one who remembers his Lord, in comparison to the one who does not remember his Lord, is that of a living creature compared to a dead one. (Bukhari)

So let us take stock of the people we spend our time with. Do they fall into the above categories?. If our friends aren't doing these things, then what does being with them say about us?. We should strive to love those who love Allah Ta'ala, and to hate those who hate Allah Ta'ala, and what He has sent down of guidance for humanity. For the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wasallam said, "Whoever possesses three things will find the sweetness of eman. For Allah and His Messenger to be more beloved to him than anything else; to love a person for Allah's sake alone; and to hate to return to disbelief the way he hates to be thrown into the fire." (Bukhari)

Dua'a when you see a shooting star – Explained by: Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee

Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee:

What is prescribed to say if you see a shooting star falling? I am asking you all. When we see a shooting star most of the time they are chasing the devils.

And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. (Soorah Al Jinn 72:9)

Lying in wait, it follows him, and if it catches up to him it burns him up. And if it does not catch up to him, he takes this one statement to the sorcerer and he adds lies to it.

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ

Except one who snatches away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. (Soorah As-Saffat 37:10)

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَصَابِيحَ

And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps (Soorah Al Mulk 67:5)

The person who sees a shooting star; what is it prescribed for him to say?

It comes in the narration of ibn Abbass رضي ألله عنهما that he used to say:

اللَهُمَ صَوِّبهُ و أصِبْ بِهِ و أكْفِنا شَرَهُ

O Allah aim it at him, and hit him, and suffice us from his evil.

Aim it at him, and hit him, and suffice us from his evil.

'O Allah aim it at him'; meaning aim it at this thief. 'And hit him'; meaning hit him with it. And suffice the Muslims from his evil.

اللَهُمَ صَوِّبهُ و أصِبْ بِهِ و أكْفِنا شَرَهُ

O Allah aim it at him, and hit him, and suffice us from his evil.

Thus, this is what is prescribed when you see a shooting star falling. And this is found in the books of the actions of the day and the night; in the Sunnan; the remembrance which the Muslim should say during the day and the night; and from them is what to say when you see a shooting star.

Advice of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Haadee to one who Tried to Take His Picture During a Class

What are you doing, Akhee? O our brother…I do not know, what do you benefit from At-Tasweer (picture taking) and taking it (the picture) with you. Na'am; Allaah is Beseeched for Help. (People) are put to trial with this Tasweer. The Fitnah of it increased when the means for it became easily accessible and it came to be within these cellular phones. Before, a person with be somewhat ashamed to carry a camera to the Masaajid. Now, it came to be within these phones so they dared to venture into this prohibited Tasweer which the Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who does it. So the people are in need of being reminded and clarification that At-Tasweer in from the MAJOR SINS; because the Prophet ﷺ cursed the picture maker, as is within the Saheeh. What could one want, beyond this explicit text? I wish I knew, what does the one who errs (in this regard) say about this authentic and explicit Hadeeth? There has preceded with us the speech of the scholars and we have mentioned it numerous times; that the authentic and explicit texts which do not have an abrogating (text) nor is there anything to contradict them, obligate that one be stern in repudiation of the one who opposes them. Not just repudiation; but sternness in doing so. This is because these texts are explicit, and do not leave room for interpretation. So as it relates to Tasweer, O assembly of brothers, if you see something from it—may Allaah reward you with good—then alert (the people) for many of them are ignorant; they are not aware of the texts and they don't know them. Alert them and clarify to them the severe threat. And the reason for laxity regarding it now is these means which have become easy within the hands of the elders as well as the youth; even the children. So it has become easy to take pictures by way of them. We ask Allaah for safety and security.

Big Heart
Be quick to forgive any form of insult, and slow to forget the importance of a big heart.

Change Attitude

The most natural way to bring about change is to change one's
attitude, starting at the seat of consciousness or the thoughts. It is
better to become an actor instead of a reactor to change. Think your
way into a new way of acting. Change the thoughts and automatically the
behavior will follow. Purify the thoughts and automatically your
actions will become pure. It becomes impossible for anyone to become
angry if the thoughts are peaceful. With purity of thought, a clear
vision of reality can be seen. It is impossible to accurately view
reality through the warped lenses of ego, greed and negative
tendencies

False Attachments

Are you aware that whenever you lose your true self-awareness (soul-consciousness), you will identify with and get attached to something that is not you? It could be another person, your work, or some material possession. Let's say you are attached to your job and one day, due to rising costs, your company decides to downsize and starts laying off thousands of its employees - all of a sudden you are asked to leave. The attachment to and identification with your position in the company, which has become a habit (sanskara), causes the creation of fearful and angry thoughts (e.g., "I'm going to lose my job" (fear related to the future) or "How dare they downsize the company and damage my position" (anger towards the company and its leadership)).

The destructive energy of these thoughts becomes emotion (energy in motion) which then invades your entire mind so you cannot have clear and calm thoughts (the prime requirement of that moment). It hijacks your intellect so you cannot make correct, wise decisions and choices (also the prime requirement of that moment) for the future. Any connection you had with your inner peace is broken. All this happens because you forgot who you really are and had begun to think you are what you do. When seen from the point of view of this example it sounds ridiculous that we should identify with what we do or what we have, but this is currently how the world and its people work. So, never forget who you truly are!

Soul Sustenance

The Five Spiritual And Five Physical Elements (Part 3)

As explained in yesterday's message, in the hierarchy of the three entities around which the whole World Drama revolves – the Supreme Soul is right at the top, the human souls are in the middle and nature is at the bottom. So, the process of restoring the balance of the spiritual and physical elements has to be initiated from the top i.e. by the Supreme Soul. The human souls which are in the middle of the hierarchy benefit from this process directly.

The human souls, by transforming themselves i.e. by filling themselves up with the five spiritual elements peace, purity, wisdom, love and joy from the Supreme Soul and restoring their balance in their personalities, then bring benefit to nature which is at the bottom of the hierarchy. This is because their doing this causes the positive energy of the five virtues to spread in nature, which results in the balance restoration of the five physical elements earth, air, water, fire and sky and the five spiritual elements or virtues in the personalities of animals, birds, insects (the same principle as explained yesterday).

This entire process, explained above, takes place in the Confluence Age which is a small Age between the Iron Age and the Golden Age, which is again the present time. So, the Confluence Age is an Age in which positive transformation takes place. Thus, at the present moment of time, the two Ages - Iron Age and Confluence Age co-exist.

The Supreme Soul does not bring direct benefit to nature, He does that via human souls, who are intelligent enough to catch his directions and connect with Him and as a result transform themselves. So, the human souls when seen with respect to the Supreme Soul, who is the Creator; are the Creation, who benefit from Him. But the same human souls, when seen with respect to nature can be called the Master Creator and nature can be called as the Creation. Here the phrase Master Creator means children of the Supreme Soul, the Creator, but at the same time those children who possess the power to perform the task of balance restoration for the self as well as the Creation, similar to the Creator, under his guidance and by absorbing power from Him.

We shall explain the actual process of imbibing the five spiritual elements from the Supreme Soul in tomorrow's message, which is the last of this series.

Message for the day

Introversion helps us to free our mind from wasteful and negative thinking.

Expression: Instead of being taken by surprise and despairing, introversion helps us to remain steady and creative even during difficult situations. Introversion keeps us free from the grip of negative programming and conditioning that is already in the mind and helps us remain focused and capable.

Experience: Even in the most negative situation, we need to practice being detached and rise above the situation and have the aim of moving forward. This gives us the understanding that there is a secret, tailor-made lesson for our own personal development, in every instance of difficulty in our life.
