nikalta hai din jab dhalti hai raat
     khilti hai kali aur ban jati phool,
     jab use milta hai kisi bhawre ka saath      tum chale aate ho humdum khyalo me mere,
     tanhayian bhi chod deti hai jab mera saath      saagar ki lehroon me dugmugati hui kashti,
     lag jaati hai kinare pe gar ho majhi ka saasth     viraan meri basti pareshan meri hasti,
     bhatkti rahi akeli jo tu nahi tha saath      un pat-ton ko bhi tha baharoon ka intjaar,
     patjhad le gaya jinhen apne saath      sham-ma ko pane ki jad-o-jehud me raat bhar,
     parwana bhi jal gaya shamma ke bhujhne ke saath      rait ki maanind phisal gayi haathon se jindgi
     khud ko thame rahe na mila chaha tha jiska saath
