Miao Shan was the youngest of three daughters of a king in southern China. The princess angered his father by refusing to marry, choosing a Buddhist nun's spiritual life. The father was furious because it based its plans for future prosperity in the marriage prospects of the girl.
His mother tried to argue in its favor, but his father refused to listen. The marriage had been arranged, the marriage would take place. However, his anger and his pleas failed to Miao Shan yield. So the king decided to confine her in a tower. In the tower, where there was nobody to talk to and only dry rice to eat, Miao Shan deseda could start your life of an ascetic and went to pray.
When he realized that he had been defeated, Miao Shan's father from the wrath, ordered his execution.
Miao Shan led to the forest. The girl walked in silence behind the soldiers. When the soldiers arrived at an open space between the trees, drew their swords, she took a deep breath ... His devotion took him to the place where he could have attained the light, leaving behind the miseries of earthly life forever. But just at that threshold, he stopped. Of those who had reached this point, no one had stopped. But Miao Shan reminded all those who still suffer, those who could not find their way to light due to the difficulties of their lives. I made a vow to stay on land until every living outside sacred.
One day she received news that his father was suffering from an incurable disease. With great sacrifice, succeeded in developing a miraculous potion that saved the life of the king.
The gods admired the filial love and mercy of Miao Shan, and made her a goddess. And from that day to come to be known today as Kwan Yin, Goddess of Mercy.

She became woman and asked permission to remain on the land as his wife. The gods, feeling that their love was so strong, she was given permission to remain on earth in mortal form. The two married and were very happy and blessed with two beautiful children.
However, their happiness was shattered when her husband became ill. Near death the beautiful young goddess prayed to the gods for a cure. They offered an alternative: If she returned to the heaven and the spirit of the White Snake, her husband would live. White Snake Goddess was heartbroken, but decided to return to heaven so that her husband may live. The husband made a miraculous recovery.
But the pain of the White Snake Goddess by their separation was so strong that it caused terrible storms in the heavens, and tears flooded the land. At this the gods relented and allowed her to return to earth in mortal form.

Once upon a time a rock was sound asleep. It was covered by a blanket of soft sand.

One day a girl found it. And she thought it was lost, and she would help the stone return to its family ... where its real birthplace ... the sea.
... with great effort she brought it to shore ... and threw it with all her might ... with her desire to find its place among the algae, fish and peers.
The sea became curious ... licked the stone which was still asleep (when stones in deep sleep it is no easy taskto wake them up).
The sea recognized it ... waved his arms hugged it ... with her indifferent and firm gently picked it up and took her very cradle ... ceased to be a lost stone.
Our exploratory breathed calmly and deeply.
