A falling bear, a daring tightrope walk and a sensational stop-motion
waterdrop image make this week's retrospective.
1: Watch out! A tranquillised bear falls from a tree outside Colorado University, US,
after it was shot by wildlife officials. The 200-pound bear climbed the tree in an
attempt to escape the University after a scavenge hunt.
2:Tobias Brauning was heralded for his entry to the Sony World Photography Awards,
a stop motion shot of a drop of water. Brauning said that inspiration for his image came from
pictures of simple water drops on a German DSLR internet forum.
3:A two-week old King penguin chick yawns at The Aquarium at Moody Garden in Texas, US.
A blood test will be conducted to determine the gender of the bird who came into life
weighing about 20 ounces. This chick is the 14th King penguin chick to have been successfully bred
at the aquarium. Due to space limitations, the chick will go to another facility once weaned from its parents.
4:A daredevil high-wire walker is seen traversing a 40m long 'slackline' suspended 1800 meters above sea level
without the aid of a safety harness in Shien, China. American Dean Potter crossed from one side of central China's
Enshi Grand Canyon to the other in just two minutes - easing his way across while listening to music on his headphones.
5:How refreshing: Tong, a seven-year-old chimpanzee, drinks water from a pipe that an official sprayed to
cool him off as temperatures rose to nearly 40c at Dusit Zoo, Thailand.
6:High winds whipped through Rugby, Warwickshire, causing severe damage to houses across the town.
Fences and trees were uprooted in the "mini tornado" which fortunately saw no injuries. Picture- Diane Slater.
7: Baby elephant Assam takes its first steps in the outdoor area in the Hagenbecks Tierpark, Hamburg, Germany.
8:A housewife was surprised to find that birds had made a nest in a pair of her husband's trousers that had been
hanging up on a balcony in Anlu, China. Wen Huina found the bird's nest when she was taking down the dried clothes
from the balcony on the 2nd floor. "I heard chirps and by looking around I found a nest in my husband's pants
and three nestlings inside chirping," she said.
9:Jockey Josh Halley narrowly avoided getting crushed by his horse, Outlaw Pete, in the The La Touche Cup
during day three of the Punchestown Festival, Naas, Ireland
10: Private Jaco van Gass, 25, from Middleburg, South Africa, hangs during training above his team's base camp in Nepal.

in Oslo singing "Children of the Rainbow" by Norwegian folk singer Lillebjoern Nilsen. Speaking in court last week, Breivik said
that Nilsen was "a very good example of a Marxist" who had infiltrated the cultural scene and that his song was typical of the
"brainwashing of Norwegian pupils."
14: Gunners from 207 Battery, 105 Regiment Royal Artillery fire a 21-gun royal salute to celebrate the
86th birthday of the Queen, at Edinburgh Castle.
15: An effigy of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is burned by South Korean protesters and defectors from North Korea
during a rally denouncing the North's recent threat against South Korea in Seoul, South Korea. North Korea is armed with
"powerful modern weapons" capable of defeating the United States, a top military chief in Pyongyang said Wednesday,
a claim that matches the country's regular rhetoric but is questioned by experts.
16: "Pastygate" took another turn this week as hundreds of bakers protested outside Downing Street during a day of action
over the controversial tax on hot takeaway snacks.
