re-americanisation of yoga,in my view yoga comprises of 3 states
1.as a physical exercise to keep the body fit & a mental discipline
2. as a means to keep the various organs healthy by different asans
3.as a means to do pranayam 20 times in the morning fresh air barefoot on the grass,facing the rising sun which very few do but can take the yogi to the same hieghts as say a TATA OR AMBWANI OR THE PRIME MINISTER without the help of advisors & experts which these people have in addition to their street smart brains.
4. the ancients maybe less than 1000 in number who migrated from persia & lived in the mountains of north india from where the air being clear,they occupied themselves with astronomy, astrology (now debased) & scientific knowledge that they could predict the following
.radius of the earth, revolutions of the planets ,value of PIE=22/7.predicting it 5000 years ago, the lunar & solar eclipses of today.
such a masterpiece of knowledge of the future; unimaginable ; the same as GOD is unimaginable.
why vyas thru krishna never gave this knowledge to arjun & the world in his hours long dialogue; because it was the supreme knowledge of the gods
how to win a war without firing a shot. with the superweapon called KNOWLEDGE. the americans used it & broke up mighty russia into many small states
gandhi used it to free india from the british
but when the same americans in ignorance after WW 11 used all their might against tiny starving vietnam ;they lost the war. WHY
becaused guns, tanks,rockets napalm bombs against defenceless women & children in veitnam, then they lost the morale & the war
it is in this context that krishna says"far higher than action is knowledge o mighty arjun;seek thou refuge in knowledge
far lower is action
the proof that these group of people came from persia is that there what is called homa in iran came to be called soma here probably due to the use of a different but similar plant. while the knowedge of those people died with their generations ,the soma making knowledge remained.
like the mayans there is no trace of their later generations to whom this sacred knowledge was passed ;except they trained a school of pandits whose job was to memorise the vedas & pass this tradition along to their children & continue the chain till today.
now the meaning of OM can be summarired as JOBS FROM THE TEMPLES called schools,colleges all learnt from the west
the era of sanskrit is sadly over, &
