Good day Dear Brothers and Sisters, Its Sunday, February 20th 2011  There is a fundamental problem with India - OUR IDENTITY We still don't have a national identity .. We have Punjabis, Gujaratis, maharashtrians, kanadigas, bengalis etc .. But ask anyone to define an indian and we come up against a wall ... There is as yet no Indian identity and so the fruits reaped in Editorial by Rahul Done region of the nation are neither freely shared nor freely accepted in another part of the country ... Why do we still NOT have a National Identity? There is the American dream that unites Americans The Germans had a fatherland, The Queen unites the British, The hate of the British unites the Irish, etc. But what is an Indian?? Is he the bollywood hero who tramps around hugging trees while trying to seduce nubile maidens? Is He the spoilt rich boy who lives in the idea that if he drinks and runs over a few pavement sleepers, his Dad can buy him out of jail?? Is he the person who holds the candle light vigil for 26/11 victimes? Is he the one who thrashes up Biharies because they not Marathi manoos? Is he the one who through drug abuse lowers his sperm count? Is he the one who picks up the flame of righteousness and loses his Life in the Process aka Satyendra Dubey? Is he the one guarding our borders so that we along with blood sucking politicians can sleep in peace? Is he the one who skips office or school to watch india play in world cup?? Was He the Muslim who saved Hindus or the Hindu who saved Muslims during the riots or Partition? Who is an Indian?? Are we all of the above?? OR ?? An identity is like a flag that infuses fresh blood into a battered side An identity is what reminds you who you are whenyou lose your way An identity keeps your path in the right perspective. We need to find out fast who is an Indian or we stand to lose everything. For without an identity, what do you stand for??  What drives you? What sustains you? If we arrive at the conclusion that we have no national identity, then the urgency is in creating one, for only such an identity can become a rallying point that can take head on the forces that seek to destabilise us by playing upon our fears and thus using them against us WHO IS AN INDIAN?
