Artist Simon Beck creates these amazing pieces of snow art
by walking in the snow wearing raquettes (snowshoes).
Along the frozen lakes of Savoie, France, he
spends days mapping out the ideas.
Typically a large design is the size of 3 soccer fields and takes
2 days. In this context a day means about upto nine hours
of work. His main focus is on mathematical geometric
forms which usually create a stunning 3D like effect
when viewed from high altitudes. As you might have
guessed, the survival of his work solely depends
on the weather. Beck tries to redesigns the patterns
as new snow falls. Sometime luck does not go his way
and he is often unable to finish a piece. But that doesn't
get him down, the main reason of his art is exercise.
Most of the designs are simple geometric figures, or figures generated by repeating simple rules at different scales.
There are helicopter photo takers who grab these
pictures before weather tarnishes or destroys it.
