We have already discussed what makes Dropbox a fantastic file sharing platform. After uploading the files / folders at your Dropbox account, now it's time to share some of your files and folders with your friends. There are two basic methods which you can use to share any file or folder with your friends from Dropbox.
1. Share a link to Files and Folders (We will discuss this method in this article)
2. Share Complete Folders.
Using either method will allow you to share your Files / Folders with your friends easily. But there is a Big difference between the two options
Difference Between Share Link And Share Folder Option
Link is a address of that file / folder which you have shared (or want to share) with your friends. To explain you easily, lets say you have bunch of pictures of a recent picnic and you want to share It with all of the people who went with you. Simply create a folder and send the link of this folder to your friends. Now you can add pictures in it anytime without worrying about resending the link to your friends. Your friends can view and download the pictures saved in that folder, but cannot edit or delete your files, because the folder will only be read-only to them.

Share a Link option is only a Read-Only option. When you send a link of any file / folder to your friend, they can either view it online in the browser or download the files in their computer. They cannot edit your Documents or add any new files / folder to your Shared folder.
Sharing the complete folder requires your Friends to have an account in Dropbox. Because, it will add your Shared Folder in his Dropbox account as well, where he can add new files, edit your documents and can create multiple folders in it as well. You and all of your friends (with whom you are sharing the folder with) can see the same Shared Folder in their Dropbox account and can work simultaneously on the Files (at a same time, on same documents).

For example, you added few pictures today in a folder and sent the link to your friends. After two days you realized that you forgot to add few more pictures in that folder. Then don't worry, just add your stuff in that folder and ask your friends to check the same link again. Once you create a link to any file / folder, you can make the changes in it anytime without changing the actual link.
