This week's picture retrospective includes a delighted owl chick,
a stunning trick of the eye and the world's ugliest dog.
1. A very happy looking three-week-old Snowy Owl which has become the star attraction at Hanover Adventure Zoo.
The chick will not learn to fly until it is around eight to nine weeks old and it currently spends its time hopping around their aviary.
2. A protester is hit with a jet of water during a rally in Santiago, Chile. Thousands of college and
high school students took to the streets to protest the existence of schools run as for-profit enterprises
and renew demands for free, quality public education.
3. What a cracking time! The Lincolnshire hamlet of Swaton once again staged the annual World Egg Throwing Competition
with hundreds of egg-streme sports enthusiasts flocking to hit bodybuilder Joel Hicks in the target throwing with accuracy challenge.
4. Believe it or not, this is a 2D drawing. Talented artist Hide - real-name Nagai Hideyuki - uses pencils and crayons
to create amazing scenes that appear three-dimensional. Using the Trompe-l'œil technique - French for 'deceives the eye' -
he employs a projection technique called anamorphosis to create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle.
5. A shoe-shaped boat debuts at the Henley Royal Regatta.
6. How did you leapfrog there? A baby lies on a giant waterlily leaf during a photo shoot
for babies aged under 1 at the National Botanic Garden of Meise, near Brussels.
7. Did we take a wrong turn? A UPS truck traveling in Miami struck a tree and continued
breaking through a pedestrian barrier into the bay. The UPS driver inside made it to shore.
8. Mugly, a British dog which was named the world's ugliest mutt.
9. A car is seen abandoned in flood water under the Metro bridge at Walkergate Metro Station in Newcastle upon Tyne.
10. A futuristic $15 million yacht owned by a Hong Kong billionaire docked in Manila Harbor, Philippines.
The 42.5 meter (140-foot)-long elongated luxury yacht, made of carbon fiber and kevlar to make it extra light,
was designed by Australian boat builder McConaghy for Hong Kong shipping magnate Anthony Marde.
11. Cannons away! A 17 tonne tank with a banner attached to the side calling for an Arms Trade Treaty,
drives through Parliament Square in central London.
12. What a spiffing view: London Mayor Boris Johnson takes one of the first rides on the Emirates Air Line cable car
across the River Thames in London prior to its official opening to the public.
13. A devotee, covered with mud and dried banana leaves, attends a holy mass celebrating the feast day of their patron Saint John
the Baptist in the village of Bibiclat, Philippines. Hundreds of devotees took part in this annual religious tradition, which has been held
in the village since 1945.

As many as 21 structures were destroyed by the fire on Saturday. Eight separate wildfires are burning across Colorado,
which is seeing record-breaking heat.

18. Chinese astronauts Jing Haipeng (C), Liu Wang (L) and Liu Yang salute after coming out of the re-entry capsule of Shenzhou-9 spacecraft,
which they boarded for a 13 day space mission.
19. Commuters 'dive' into breakfast at London's Canary Wharf Piazza. The tasty spectacle is a huge, life-like cereal bowl created by
renowned pavement artist, Joe Hill. It took Joe and his team of artists one week, working 12 hours a day to complete the 3D artwork.
20. Keeping you up? David Cameron looks jaded as he leaves a two-day European Union leaders summit in Brussels.
