Week in Photos 22/06/12
This week's picture retrospective includes an array of peculiar hats at Ascot Ladies' Day,
a stunning rainbow in China and a daring tightrope walk over the Niagara Falls.

1. Rain didn't stop play for this cheeky black-and-white-ruffed lemur at Dudley Zoological Gardens.
The primate grabbed an umbrella from a visitor to the site's Lemur Wood - home to more than 30 free-roaming lemurs -
and set off for a wander around the one-acre paddock.
2. It's still there! Vacationers bask in front of the wreckage of the cruise liner Costa Concordia.
The salvage operation to move the ship away from the island of Giglio, where it ran aground three months ago, will begin in June.
3.Sparks fly as an Afghan National Army soldier fires an artillery round.
4. A plane tackles a brush fire in the hills of the Los Padres National Forest in California.
5. A rainbow above the Hukou (Kettle's Mouth) Waterfall in the Yellow River valley, China.
The waterfall has a drop of about 30 metre; at its widest it is more than 1,000 metres across.
6. Long-tailed mayflies fly over the surface of the Tisza river near Tiszainoka, Hungary.
Millions of these short-lived mayflies engage in a frantic rush to mate and reproduce before
they perish in just a few hours during "Tiszaviragzas" or Tisza blooming season from late spring
to early summer every year.
7. Nebraska National Guard crew members dump water from a Bambi bucket onto flames of a fire west of Fort Collins, Colorado.
8.Fish sculptures made from plastic bottles to promote recycling placed at Botafogo Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
9. Italian artist Paola Pivi created this work, entitled "How I Roll", which is on display at the Doris C. Freedman Plaza, New York City.
10. Nik Wallenda made a daring tightrope walk over the Niagara Falls this week - becoming the first to complete the stunt since 1896.
Nik is the 7th generation of the 'Great Wallendas' tight rope walkers, and he spent a year in preparation for the amazing feat.
11. Feeling hungry? Ladies' Day at Ascot always throws up a few outlandish hats but this effort tops them all-
a plate sized base with a plastic fry-up place on top. Tuck in!
12. Laura Nelson, 29, kept the Olympic flame alight with this impressive design.
Perhaps most admirable is the effort it would have taken to keep the top-heavy hat from falling off.
13. Another stand-out design was this large hat worn by Ascot racegoer Carla Cregan.
14. Egyptians protested against the ruling military council's recent power grab just before the presidential election in Cairo's Tahrir Square.
Many considered the military's move an attempt to limit the power of the presidency just in case it would be won by Mohammad Morsi,
the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate.
15. Catalan theatre troupe La Fura Dels Baus perform ''Istanbul, Istanbul'' on June 21 and 22
as part of a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts.
16. A protest rally is held at the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok against the Japanese decision to restart two reactors at Ohi nuclear power plant.
Japan has moved closer to restarting nuclear reactors for the first time since last year's earthquake and tsunami.
