Chirkeyskaya hydroelectric plant located on the river Sulak in Dagestan. It is the largest hydropower plant in the North Caucasus and the highest arch dam in Russia. It is built in a narrow gorge Chirkeyskaya deeper than 200 m wide at the bottom of 12-15 m, on the top – 300 meters is part of Sulak hydroelectric system. The installed capacity of hydroelectric power station – 1000 megawatts.
