True story:
Last year on Christmas Day found us driving to San Diego
to spend Christmas with the rest of our blessings. When
we got as far as Yuma AZ we stopped to have breakfast.
The only place that was opened was IHOP. It was very
busy with other hungry holiday travelers and Christmas
spirit was in short supply. The section we were in was
also occupied with a young couple , the young man
seemed very nervous and I remember thinking I hope
they aren't breaking up on Christmas Day.
All of a sudden the young man got down on one knee
by their table and pulled out a small ring box and asked
her to marry him. She started crying, jumped into his arms
and said YES! The whole section of hungry travelers broke
into applause having just shared in one young couple's life,
our travels made lighter with our own memories.
I know they lived happily ever after!

After some last-minute Christmas shopping with her grandchildren, my friend was rushing them into the car when four-year-old Jason said, "Grandma, Susie has something in her pocket." He reached in and pulled out a new red barrette. Though she was tired, my friend knew it was important for Susie to put the item back where she had found it. They did just that. Later at the grocery store checkout, the clerk asked, "Have you kids been good so Santa will come?" "I've been very good," replied Jason, "but my sister just robbed a store."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our son and his wife took their two children to the store to see Santa Claus. However, when it was time for three-year-old, Maude to go up and talk to Santa, she became shy and wouldn't go. Several times, Santa asked her to come to him, but she refused. Finally, he asked, "Would you like a present?" "Yes" Maude replied. "Can you come get it?" Santa asked. Maude thought about this for a moment, then said, "Can you throw it?"

A mother was pleased with the card her son had made her for Christmas, but was puzzled as to the scraggly-looking tree from which many presents dangled, and near the top, something that looked strangely like a bullet. She asked him if he would explain the drawing and why the tree itself was so bare, instead of a fat pine tree. "It's not a traditional Christmas tree," he explained. "It's a cartridge in a bare tree."

Did you ever notice that life seems to follow certain patterns? Like I noticed that every year around this time, I hear Christmas music."

they've gone far enough!

My cousin Merle is trained in message, and she offered me a treatment in her specially prepared basement room. The candles were lit and wonderful music was playing on the stereo. At one point, the music swelled along with the sound of cascading water. "Your water music is so beautiful!" I exclaimed. There was a pause, then Merle said, "I don't know if I should tell you this, but my husband just flushed the toilet." -------------------------------------------------------------------------

RECIPE FOR A MERRY CHRISTMAS Take the crisp cold of a December night, add two generous parts of snow, stir in air so clear it tinkles. Into a generous heart, mix the wonder of a little girl, the sparkle of a young boy's glance, the love of parents, and set gently before the chimney side. Add the lightest touch of a reindeer's hooves, a sprig of holly, a scent of fir. Set the mixture to rise in the warmth of a dream of good will to men. It will be almost ready to serve when it bubbles with warmth and good feeling. Bedeck with the light of a star set in the East, garnish with shining balls of gold, silver, and red. Serve to the tune of an ancient carol in the middle of the family table.

Bet Ya' Didn't Know:
An artificial spider and web are often included in the decorations on Ukrainian Christmas trees. A spider web found on Christmas morning is believed to bring good luck. In Britain, the Holy Days and Fasting Days Act of 1551, which has not yet been repealed, states that every citizen must attend a Christian church service on Christmas Day, and must not use any kind of vehicle to get to the service. In his first semester at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, during the Christmas break, Harry Potter acquired his father's "invisibility cloak," a gift which was to play a very important part in events throughout the series.
Approx. $700 million in pies (approx. 186 million units) are sold in grocery
stores every year. This does not include restaurants, only grocery stores.
If you lined up the number of pies sold at U.S. grocery stores in one year,
they would circle the globe and then some. Pie just isn't for after-dinner dessert. Thirty-five percent of Americans say
they've had pies for breakfast.
RANDOM BETTY BOOP TIDBITS Cartoon cutie Betty Boop was developed by Max Fleischer and drawn by animator Grim Natwick for Paramount Studio's Talkartoons cartoon series. She was originally created as a human-like canine character, the love interest for a dog named Bimbo. Betty made her debut on August 9, 1930 in Dizzy Dishes, the sixth installment in the Talkartoon series. She quickly became a fan favorite, and starred in over 100 cartoons from 1931 to 1939.
Max Fleischer finalized Betty Boop as completely human by 1932 in the cartoon Any Rags. Her floppy poodle ears became hoop earrings, and her black poodle nose became a girl's button-like nose. Famous vocal artist Mae Questel was the voice of Betty from 1931 until her death in 1998. Questel also provided the voice of Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoon series. Betty Boop is known as the first and one of the most famous sex symbols on the animated screen. She shows off her curves and cleavage with short, shapely dresses, high heels, and a garter belt. The censorship guidelines set by the Motion Picture Production Code in 1934 greatly affected the carefree flapper style that had made Betty famous. She transformed into a career girl with a fuller dress who no longer winked at strangers or shook her hips. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
It Made My Day:
We do a white elephant exchange at my family Christmas,
each person brings a ridiculous $10 gift. My great-Aunt has
been really down since her husband died a year ago, so she
came to the party as well. Watching her laugh herself to tears
when she opened an alarm clock that whinnies like a horse
MMD!
My oldest daughter, my husband, and I used the bank’s drive-through
and when we got our money, there was a large dog bone. We asked
what the bone was for and they said "your dog." My daughter pushed
the black fur rimmed hood backward and waved hi. She got two suckers
to make up for the bone.
Today, it was 78 degrees, two days after a huge snowstorm.
My friends and I have a snowball fight in tank tops. Kansas

I work as a custodian at a middle school. One of the rooms I
have to clean is the severe case special ed. room, and the
teacher always appreciates my extra effort to help her keep
it clean. One day near Christmas, when I didn't have much to look
forward to, her whole class surrounded me on their way to the
bus and gave me a bag full of candy and cards! The kids'
and the teacher's kindness totally MMD!
My cat is handicapped, but only limps when she wants attention, otherwise she bounces. My sister-in-law was cat-sitting and didn’t believe me about the bouncing because she hadn’t seen it, my cat was moping without me and limping her best for pity. Until Hannah caught her bouncing when she thought no one was looking!

A married couple had been out shopping at the mall for most of the afternoon, suddenly, the wife realized that her husband had disappeared. The somewhat irate spouse called her mate's cell phone and demanded: "Where did you go???" The husband calmly replied, "Darling, you remember that jewelry shop where you saw the diamond necklace and totally fell in love with it and I didn't have money that time and I said, 'Baby, it'll be yours one day'?" Wife, with a smile blushing, said, "Yes, I remember that, my love." "Well, I'm at the Home Depot next to that shop." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Research has determined that the shelf life of fruitcake is longer than the shelf. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was preparing to go cash a paycheck when I realized my husband, Mark, hadn't signed it. So I sent four-year-old Chelsea upstairs to "get Daddy's name on the back of it." She came back, handed it to me, and said, "I knew his name so I did it myself." On the back of the check, she had printed, "D-A-D".

Today's Pics
I just love working in the yard.
Fence with a view.
Have you seen my new squeaky toy? Somebody lost it.
We visited our newly married daughter, who was preparing her first Christmas dinner. I noticed the turkey thawing in the kitchen sink with a dish drainer inverted over the bird. I asked why a drainer covered the turkey. Our daughter turned to my wife and said, "Mom, you always did it that way." "Yes," my wife replied, "but you don't have a cat!"

I don't think I'll attend this years Christmas dinner. My wife gave me a haircut this morning. And now she said she's going to make Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
